Loving Leu's Loft

Mom wanted to go to the cabin for her birthday to see Grandma, Grandpa, Kevin, and Carolyn and she asked us to go with her so she didn't have to drive by herself. The kids have been asking to go for so long...perfect! It was a fantabulous weekend trip!

The favorite kids swing

They can spend forever feeding the chipmunks. I think we may owe Kevin a bag of peanuts next time we come up:)

Thomas is getting good at having them come up to him

I braved driving a 4 wheeler again after my little embarrassing accident years ago. Don't worry-no mishaps this time:) After my ride around the block with Keira, I followed Grandpa all over the mountain. I was surprised by how adventurous he still is. This was a good moment for me!

Carolyn took Thomas on a ride

Thomas also loved playing baseball and badminton. He's getting pretty good! (I wish it were always this easy to get him outside playing).

I thought this was a good picture moment as Keira cuddles with Grandpa for him to read to her

Saturday night was s'more night. Thomas and Keira learned how to build a fire and we reviewed fire safety tips. Kevin asked what we should always have around incase the fire gets a little out of hand. Thomas noticed there was no water around, so he went inside the cabin and came back out struggling to carry a big jug of water that goes on top the water dispenser. Way to be extra prepared, Thomas!:)

Gotta have s'mores when you build a campfire. These were giant size! The kids also found our game of telephone to be quite entertaining. Glad they enjoyed these simple bonding moments.

And since it was Mom's birthday, we of course had to sing to her and have a little dessert...in addition to the s'mores we just had. A little sugar rush, but... Yum!

To an amazing woman who gives her all for her family...Happy Birthday, Mom! Thanks for suggesting we take this trip!

Art City Days and Keira's Recital

It's been a good weekend. I try to take advantage of the activities going on around us to break up the normal routine of things. So, I took Thomas and Keira to a few things going on for Springville's annual Art City Days.

We went to the carnival and let them go on a few rides. It can be a bit pricey so I appreciate how they were so good to just be happy with the few they got to go on. Here's some of their fun:

We braved the heat of the day and the big crowd at the Art Museum Craft Fair. They loved going around making kites, tie dye cloths, twisty tie wands, etc. They really wanted a balloon animal and their face painted but those lines were a bit too long for me to want to stand in.

Every so often, I'll be up to going to a parade. We lucked out with finding a good spot without reserving. So here's us waiting for the parade...they were so ready to get some candy:)

-a little Go Fish while we wait

Keira's ballet was also this weekend. She's been my beautiful ballerina these past 3 years, but has decided she wants to try something else. So, this is her last performance -as a Lamplighter in the ballet "Over the Rainbow" (based on the Wizard of Oz)
Before the recital

Love this girl!

After the recital- so proud of her!
